Scope of application:
A certain wastewater treatment plant employs a multi-stage AO biochemical treatment process and has undergone several expansion and renovation projects. However, the system has long faced the persistent challenge of effluent total phosphorus exceeding the standard. Although conventional chemical phosphorus removal agents have shown some effectiveness in the past, their low-pH characteristics severely inhibit the activity of the core microorganisms in the AO system—particularly polyphosphate-accumulating organisms—thus jeopardizing the stable operation and treatment efficiency of the biological treatment units.
