P-09 Power Plant Desulfurization Defoamer
Detailed introduction
Foaming principle
In the flue gas desulfurization system of a power plant, the slurry continuously absorbs harmful substances from the flue gas. The surfactants and particulate matter within the slurry—including impurities such as heavy metal ions contained in the power plant’s exhaust—cause the surface tension difference between the surface layer and the inner solution to increase. As a result, when air enters the solution, foam is formed.
To achieve better desulfurization performance, power plants typically add certain additives to the desulfurization tower to enhance the system's desulfurization efficiency. Some of these additives have foaming properties, and when they are mechanically stirred in the desulfurization tower, they can form foam.
Foam hazards
1. During the desulfurization process, excessive foaming in the absorption tower can lead to the formation of a thick foam layer, which compresses and reduces the reaction space available for the slurry inside the absorption tower. This increases the slurry's workload during desulfurization, thereby weakening the efficiency of the desulfurization process.
2. If the foam in the desulfurization tower is not removed promptly, the desulfurization equipment will be subjected to prolonged overload operation. During this process, the sulfate concentration in the slurry will keep increasing, eventually causing the desulfurization foam to overflow.
3. Foam can also cause false level readings and have certain effects on heat exchangers.
